I use to be a fast food manger at Mcdonalds and Subway. I know for a fact they say they hire felons or ex-felons and they really don’t because they rather hire others. Now that i am a felon for the first at the age 30 they won’t even hire me with all my experience i have for over 15 years at them places and i know everything there. How i got my felon was being at the wrong place at the wrong time and now i am screw for life. I would not mind to work fast food again but i can not get anything.

A work from home job might not hold your DUI convictions against you, but many background checks will include driving records. It just depends on how much the company wants to spend. Perhaps try getting a background check on yourself to see what your future employers are seeing.

What did you buy? Depending on what you bought, you might have to pay duties. Contact US Customs and see what's holding it up.

A pet store doesn't have much that you can learn from…they hire pimply faced teenagers to do most of the work.

A better choice would be a vet. They've gone to school for it, they are experts on the subject. I bet you'll learn a lot. Zoologists go to school for vet science and then choose to work as a vet/zoologist/etc. Good luck.

Sounds like nursing is a perfect career choice for you and that you've done your research. I've been a nurse for 30+ years and like your mom have found it to be the perfect balance. I raised 3 daughters and worked where and when I wanted to work. We moved (due to husband's job) to a number of States and I was always employed – never had a problem. (my daughters often didn't even know I was working as I was always home when they were).

My daughter is an awful lot like you. She never considered nursing, but during her 2nd year of college she started thinking about everything that nursing had to offer. She was seeing alot of her older sister's friends graduating with different degrees from college and not being able to find employment. She switched majors in her junior year to go into a BSN program — had to go 3 more years to get her BSN. (so she was in college a total of 5 1/2 yrs) She graduated 1 1/2 hrs ago, is a RN and loving her career. She never regretted the extra time she spent to get her BSN after changing majors.
She left college with an immediate job making $50000 and went into a great mentorship, training program in the PICU. After her first year as a RN became a travel nurse. She is now 25 yrs old, making a huge wage and traveling the country — working as a Pediatric ICU nurse. She didn't have that warm and fuzzy feeling either, never saw nursing as a calling, but saw it as a really great career. So much like you and she is loving her profession.
