Smurfit_Stone_030 (Small)When looking for a manufacturing job, you will find the market flooded with numerous people applying for the same jobs.

With so many others applying for the same job as you, how do you make yourself stand out in the interview, that you are the candidate that gets the callback?

The following tips will help you to cinch that all-important interview:

  • Be prompt and have a firm handshake

When the hiring decision come down to two equally qualified candidates, a decision will be based on the little things, a firm hand shake, being prompt, a professional attitude.

  • Dress for the interview

While a manufacturing interview does not require a suit, do dress to impress. Dress pants or khakis, a button down shirt tucked in and a belt. The assumption is that if you look neat and tidy, your work will also be neat and tidy.

  • Be specific about your experience and what skills you have.

This is very important, especially in manufacturing. In manufacturing, experience is key. If you have experience for the exact job they are hiring for, that is good, but if you have a variety of experience, but less specific, you may still be a more valuable employee.

  • Be enthusiastic and ask questions

Show them that you are truly interested in working for their company. Prepare some questions to ask, directly related to manufacturing, such as; “do you use lean manufacturing techniques?” or, “What is your safety record?” Remember to thank them for the interview.

Remember interviewers see numerous people with similar experience. Machine operators and assembly people are plentiful, so the decision on who to hire usually comes down to the details, which put some effort into the interview. The interview is your time to show them you are prepared, professional and that you are the employee that will go the extra mile.

If you don’t have luck in job interviews then you have only one option left: you should be your own boss. And with work from home this can be done really easy! All you need is some knowledge and you need to take things in your hands and start working!

Work from home sure has a lot of benefits (you work when you want, you don’t need anyone else to look after your kids, you slowly build up your monthly income) and some downsides (first you may earn less than in an office). But there are so many benefits that you really should consider working from your own home!

Hard to take a firm handshake home.

Adam Scott had trouble getting the boots on last year. You rarely just slip into a pair of cowboy boots like they are house slippers. If boots are the signature gift to the winner, why not have a bigger pair for the ceremony and then get them a fitted pair after the excitement has died down ?

Gotta like the horse comment. :-D

I’m not convinced she was aware of that, especially when you were discussing alternate family names.
She adopted your perspective, yes, but she also continued to be open to information, others’ perspectives. She rationally considered your future together, the future life of your child.. and lovingly attempted to focus you on building a life together that could incorporate your visions. Then she realized your deep love for her was conditional on a name. That was hard for many to watch.

A correct way to write that sentence is like this:

Anyways, I agree with you that we should not be arguing over grammar in the context of this video.

Monday punditry. Seattle PI: Obama — a lightning quick study — prefers to dip in and out on issues, micro-focusing on things he cares deeply about or on crises. Offshore drilling fit neither of those categories until the Deepwater Horizon rig sunk on April 20. Just 18 days earlier — on April 2 — Obama insisted drilling is safe and a massive spill unlikely, despite the industry’s mixed safety record and what he now decries as an overly "cozy" relationship between MMS and Big Oil. The president made the announcement in hopes of wooing conservative backing for his energy bill — but he proceeded without challenging norms and questioning any basic assumptions. Jonathan Alter: The BP oil spill is the perfect metaphor for Barack Obama’s presidency so far. His first 500 days in office have been—with the significant exception of health-care reform—consumed in cleaning up the messes left by his predecessors in the financial sector, the auto business, Afghanistan, and now the oil and gas…
